Martin Hoole, founder and owner, shapes ideas. His enthusiasm for building something from nothing started as a young boy when he discovered the wonderful world of Lego. And has he built some weird and wonderful things. His current collection of more than 25 000 pieces includes a home-security surveillance robot, operated from a custom-built web page.
He has more than eight years experience in product development, working locally and abroad. With a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (University of Stellenbosch), a Masters in Biomedical Engineering (University of Cape Town) and mad guitar skills, Martin is engineer meets inventor. Problem-solving is in his DNA.

Our six-step product development process takes your idea from conception to construction. It allows you to monitor your project’s progress throughout. At the end of each step, we review the design and map out the plan and associated costs for the next step. The more transparent the process, the easier to spot an obstacle. How was your problem solved? "Martin contacted me regularly throughout the product development process, discussing each aspect of the design with me to ensure that the end result was exactly what I was looking for. I even received video clips that provided me with a 3D image of the laundry cart, so that I could visualise the completed unit as he had it in his mind."
Why did you partner with TKE in your problem-solving? "I heard about TKE through a family member, and discussed my ideas with Martin, the owner. His immediate understanding of what it was that I was looking for and his enthusiasm for the project, left me with little doubt that his company was perfect for the job."
What problem needed solving? "My husband and I were busy with some home renovations on our farm last year, and while I was designing the cupboard layout for my laundry area, I decided that I would like to include a mobile laundry cart into the space. After an exhaustive search of the internet, I discovered that there were none available in South Africa that were in line with my requirements. I realised that if I were to go ahead with the idea, I would have to find someone who could design and manufacture one for me."
